It’s Smart To Be Cautious

A few weeks ago my cousin received a letter in the mail saying that she had won 2,000$ and that she could claim the money by taking the check to the bank and depositing it into her account. She had no idea where the money came from and who sent it! My mother warned her that the money was probably a scam and that she shouldn’t take a chance depositing it into her bank account because whomever sent it might have a way of stealing her money and private information. Long story short, it was a scam.

Fortunately for my cousin she did listen to my mom, but there are so many people who are scammed every day because of similar business practices. I don’t necessarily believe the old saying that ‘nothing in life is free’, but I do believe the one that says ‘if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is’. I’ve gotten a lot of free promotional products over the years, but never did I get free money! If someone offers you free money it’s probably smart to be cautious.
