Fine The Players
I was reading some commentary on the issue of the New Orleans Hornets firing Byron Scott and I would just like to take time to express my displeasure with the situation! This isn’t as bad to me as Allen Iverson leaving the Memphis Grizzlies “indefinitely”, but it’s disappointing as well. I used to have a crush on Byron Scott when he coached my former favorite team the New Jersey Nets. Don’t judge me!!! But yeah, I digress.
I’ve always thought it was lame to fire coaches because players don’t play well. Yeah, I know it’s the coach’s job to motivate the player and blah, blah, blah — but some players are just bad. And some are lazy. And some are whatever most of the Knicks are. Is that the coach’s fault? How many time does a team get to fire a coach before you realize it’s just the players. Or something. I think instead of firing the coach they should start fining the players. Maybe the coach too, who knows.
All I do know is that if I do a bad job at work I don’t get paid. So they should start losing money. I’m sure losing money will motivate the players to play a little harder.
Of course I know this isn’t a good solution and I’m only half serious, but there should be repercussions for players, not just the coach.
