The Africans Are Late

I was just reading this article on Reuters that I found to be pretty cute. The article was about this practice of “beeping” by people in Africa which Reuters describes as the “fastest-growing phenomena in the continent’s booming mobile telephone markets”. Basically one person will call another person and before they can pick up the phone, the caller will hang up. Basically only allowing the phone to ring long enough for the receiver to see that they have a missed called. That way the person with the cell phone will know that the caller is trying to reach them. The caller also hopes that the other person will call them back at their expense. That’s so funny to me because I used to do that with my bf. At the time I didn’t have a cell phone and long distance was expensive, so I would just call him and let it ring once and he’d call me right back. LOL. The Africans are late!

Don’t Go, Maya Rudolph!

I’m not the biggest Saturday Night Live fan in the world, but I really love Maya Rudolph. She’s the best thing to happen to Saturday Night Live since Cheri Oteri, Molly Shannon and Chris Kattan. yesterday I read a report on ONTD that Maya would finally be returning to SNL for the new season. Needless to say I was very happy. However, according to a report released today by EW.com, Maya will NOT be returning to SNL anymore. That sucks, yo. She’s seriously one of the funniest people on that show. I definitely wont be watching SNL anymore unless there’s a great musical guest. The current cast, minus Amy Poehler, kind of sucks. Booo. If it’s about money, they need to just pay her more!

Best Week Ever

I’m so happy that Best Week Ever is back. That show is easily one of the funniest things on television. Definitely on VH1. I’m not sure if it’s the clips that they show which makes it funny or if it’s the comedians. Some of them are just crazy. And most of the time it isn’t even what they say that’s funny, it’s their expressions and mannerisms that make me laugh. There are a few weekly shows that come on other stations like Comedy Central, but they can’t begin to compete with Best Week Ever. I seriously used to look forward to Fridays just so I could watch the show. Now that the show has its own website, I get to laugh all week. Good stuff.

Tyra’s One On One With Britney

By now I’m sure all of you guys have seen Britney Spears’ horrible MTV VMAs performance, but what you may not know is that after the show Britney sat down with Tyra Banks for an emotional heart to heart. We all know that Tyra has a way of getting your favorite celebrities to reveal things about themselves that they never have before. Tyra’s show just began a new season and she wanted to sit down with Britney to try and see where her head is at. She also hoped to leave Britney with some priceless advice that she could use to grow. Watch a preview of the upcoming episode below. It’s compelling television.
