It’s Not Completely Dead…Yet!

I think I finally got my mom’s computer working good. It’s not as good as it used to be, but it is running a lot more efficiently since I performed a PC restore on it. Doing the PC restore was not easy, let me tell you! When I did it on my computer it was quick and painless. However, since her computer is an older model and operating system the process was different. I had to restore her PC to factory settings using the CD instead of the Dell image thing. That meant once the computer was restored nothing worked. Ugh.

I had to go to different websites and download drivers so that simple things like the audio could work. I didn’t  have to do any of that with mine. I’m glad I was able to figure things out though. All that’s left to do now is to buy her an external hard drive for all her music. She has so much music and it wont all fit on her internal hard drive. I also want her to have an external hard drive so that I can back up her important files in case the computer goes crazy again!

Nothing Good To Watch On TV!

A few months ago I made the decision to stop watching reality television. Specifically, reality TV competitions. After wasting my time watching the last season of American Idol and America’s Next Top Model, I came to realize that I just wasn’t into reality television anymore. I’ve had my fill of the contrived situations, fake emotions and fixed outcomes. I usually watch the dance show So You Think You Can Dance… that comes on in the summer but I even decided against watching that. I’m over it.

Now that I think about it, I haven’t been watching any reality television shows at all. I did manage to catch that new Diddy show the other day but that wasn’t as good as I had hoped. It’s no Making The Band. I was kind of beating myself up for not buying this nice flat screen that I saw on sale, but maybe it’s good that I didn’t buy it. I only watch about five hours of TV a week. If that. I still love watching my DVDs though, so the next time I see televisions on sale for a great price I might be tempted to get one anyway. For now, I guess I’ll stick to music!

I’m Over A.I….. AGAIN

I hate to say this once again but I really hate this season of American Idol. OK, maybe hate is a strong word but I’m not liking it at all. It’s been kind of lame thus far. I don’t know if they thought adding the new judge and changing the format would make it better, but in my opinion it really didn’t. I think I’m not a fan of this season for the same reason I wasn’t a fan of last season – I don’t care about any of the contestants. There are a few couple of them that I like, but I really don’t care enough about any of them to vote this year.

I don’t know, I think they picked the wrong people again. I can’t see any of these people performing at sold out shows. I can’t even picture any of them in music videos and things like that. Hell, I don’t even remember who is who. I’m not sure how the ratings are this season but I’m bored with it already.

Much Ado About Nothing

I decided to boycott the Oscars last night because every year they disappoint me. Most of the time I just tune in right before they’re ready to announce the categories that I’m interested in. That usually includes Best & Supporting Actress & Actor and Best Picture. Sometimes I’ll try to catch the musical guests or stick around for that category but that’s it. Fortunately they pretty much do it in the same order every year. I didn’t really have anyone to root for this year so I skipped the whole show. I was rooting for Brad, Angelina and Taraji but I knew that none of them would win. I was right.

It’s funny though that the year I decide to skip the whole show everyone goes on about how good it was. Blah. If anything was truly worth catching I will see it on Youtube today. So yeah, that’s my 2009 Oscar’s experience. Much ado about nothing.
