Young Forever…

I haven’t watched Saturday Night Live in I don’t know how long, but I joined the masses and checked it out because everyone kept making such a huge deal about Betty White hosting. I also wanted to check out my favorite rapper (Jay-Z, of course). Betty White definitely didn’t disappoint but I can’t say the same thing for Jay. I knew Betty White was going to be funny because she’s always funny. Plus the promos for the show were pretty funny. I was, however, nervous that she would forget lines. She is over 80 after all. Anyway, of the skits that I did see, the digital short with the cast members singing the Golden Girl’s theme song was probably my favorite.

I also liked the “Muffin” skit. That was just odd though. At times I didn’t know whether I should laugh or vomit in my mouth. Everyone kept calling Jay’s performance epic because he did so many hits, but I honestly wasn’t that impressed. Not sure why. It just left much to be desired. I am looking forward to The Hits Collection Vol. 1 in June though!!

Mission: Obsessed!!!

Lately I’ve developed this really unhealthy obsession with the 60′s/70′s television show Mission: Impossible. It’s weird because my mom used to always watch reruns of the show when I was little and I thought she was crazy. And when she was little my Gram used to watch the original episodes and she used to think my Gram was insane for being addicted to that show. I’m in my twenties, my mom’s in her forties, and Gram is in her sixties, and we all love that show. I guess that just goes to show you that good television stands the test of time. I don’t really see any shows these days that I love to watch that I can see my future kids being obsessed with.

My mom and I watch a few episodes daily at the end of our work day and we can’t get enough. On the weekend we sometimes watch like four or five episodes. Addiction! It’s unfortunate though because there were only seven seasons. We’ve already watched five of them. I’m going to be really sad when it’s over. =/ I might try watching those Mission: Impossible movies, but I’m sure I wont like them. Part of the reason I love the show is because of the amazing cast. Boo!

Watch Nothing Instantly!!

I’m currently a member of Netflix, have been for a while now. While I generally like the service, there are a few things about it that bothers me. The main thing is the Watch Instantly feature. I love this feature most of all, but I hate that there aren’t enough movies that interest me available. Maybe I’m too picky or something, but out of my whole queue only about ten percent of the videos can be viewed online. That stinks. I also hate that there aren’t a lot of good television shows available to watch instantly. Maybe it’s because I have high standards for movies and TV shows.

I don’t like the movies and TV shows that most people are interested in. I’ve never seen Ugly Betty, True Blood, Bad Girls Club, Grey’s Anatomy, Lost, etc. And I rarely watch “popular” movies. I’ve never seen, or have any interest in seeing movies like Harry Potter, Avatar, those vampires, etc. I’m more interested in independent films, movies with strong female leads, heartwarming films, musicals, and family movies. Lol, at least that’s what Netflix says.

It’s Not Completely Dead…Yet!

I think I finally got my mom’s computer working good. It’s not as good as it used to be, but it is running a lot more efficiently since I performed a PC restore on it. Doing the PC restore was not easy, let me tell you! When I did it on my computer it was quick and painless. However, since her computer is an older model and operating system the process was different. I had to restore her PC to factory settings using the CD instead of the Dell image thing. That meant once the computer was restored nothing worked. Ugh.

I had to go to different websites and download drivers so that simple things like the audio could work. I didn’t  have to do any of that with mine. I’m glad I was able to figure things out though. All that’s left to do now is to buy her an external hard drive for all her music. She has so much music and it wont all fit on her internal hard drive. I also want her to have an external hard drive so that I can back up her important files in case the computer goes crazy again!
